After first buying and now living in France for over 2 years we decided recently that we wanted to move on to a bigger project. We had picked up some knowledge over the few years that we had been here and the first port of call was Norman Wood a Representative of Properties-France.com & Maitre Baillet Notaires in Chabanais, who had been recommended to us from a friend. We arranged to meet him at his office where he listened very carefully to our requests and then presented us with a portfolio containing an extensive range of properties to select. We were given advice and knowledge of every property within the portfolio, finally narrowing it down to 5 that fulfilled our requirements. Norman then arranged a viewing day to see the selected properties.  The day was structured very well with a professional approach and gave us both an insight to all properties and the region. We subsequently viewed our dream home and put an offer in which was accepted the following morning. The legal process was straight forward with the help of Norman who speaks fluent French and we were kept informed of what process we were at, which made it very reassuring that we were dealing with a professional company.

After viewing a great number of properties with various agents we made an appointment to see Norman Wood of Properties France who had been highly recommended to us by an acquaintance.

Prior to our meeting we had given him a brief description of our requirements.

He had two properties that he thought would be suitable for our needs and within our budget (a very important point, most agents disregard budgets.) It was a breath of fresh air to meet somebody who took the time to listen and do everything possible to meet our requirements

The first house we viewed was in need of considerable renovation which, of course, meant it needed a considerable amount of money spending on it. However, it was the first house we had seen that we could visualise making into a lovely home with an income AND within budget.

From here we went to Roumazieres for the second viewing we had arranged. This property was beautiful and well maintained but before rushing into anything we decided to sleep on it and have a serious think about each of the properties.

This was progress; we had seen 2 properties that matched our criteria.

We decided to arrange a second viewing on both properties. Although the house in Roumazieres was beautiful, it was toward the top end of our budget and would have needed some major alterations to be suited for a Chambres D'hotes.

After careful consideration we decided to submit an offer on the first property we viewed with Norman given its location, gardens and the potential to set up a bed and breakfast business.

A sale was agreed and completion was expected within two to three months.

Norman talked us through all the formalities, taking the time to explain everything in detail each step of the way and the sale completed smoothly.
